I discovered Fractal art a few years back after seeing this program on PBS and was absolutely floored by the shear beauty of this art form. I believe this may well have a place in the future of fine art since although it is fully designed on the computer, it allows for true artistic and creative expression. This is really entertaining and I highly recommend seeing this. (Did I mention it’s free…and so is the popcorn!)

About fractals
Benoit Mandelbrot discovered what is now called the M-Set in the early seventies and coined the term fractal to describe the geometry behind it. The power and the beauty of fractals were only capable of being seen with the advent of computers, which become psychedelic windows on the infinite when using simple fractal equations. In 1992 Nigel Lesmoir-Gordon made the TV documentary, The Colors of Infinity about the Mandelbrot Set and fractals, which has since been seen right round the world. Sir
Arthur C Clarke presented the film and gives a lucidly simple account of the mathematics of the M-Set. For artists, fractal art offers a new art form that blends both science and art to create some of the most beautiful images imaginable.

I want to thank all our students, friends, and Creators Workshop family for making 2011 a wonderful year here at our school and studio. I am grateful to be able to share our passion for art together and look forward to a wonderful 2012 season. I wish you a wonderful Christmas and Hannukah and a Happy, healthy new year.

The Creators Workshop will be open up till Friday, December 23, and will be closed from 24 – January 2. We will re-open Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

FREE THANKSGIVING PAINT WORKSHOP

If your child loves a parade, then they’ll love painting one….a big one!!!
The Creators Workshop and Pequannock township park and recreation are pleased to sponsor this free Thanksgiving paint workshop for youngsters throughout the area.
Attendees will assist in painting a giant mural of a Thanksgiving day parade, while also learning how to create their own holiday drawing.
All materials are non-toxic and child friendly. Light refreshments will be served.
Recommended ages are 6-16. Workshop time is: 2-3 pm
This workshop is absolutely free and all materials are supplied but we ask that you bring a can of cat or dog food to be donated to ADOPT (Animal Dignity Org. of Pequannock.

10th Annual Free Halloween Cartoon Workshop

Attention all ghouls & goblins! If you love to draw cartoons then the Creators Workshop Art School is the place to be on Saturday, Halloween weekend! The Creators Workshop Art School is pleased to present this free cartooning workshop for children from ages 6-16, on Saturday, October 29th, 2 – 3 pm.

Now in our 10th year the Creators Workshop Art School has been offering fine art workshops to young aspiring artists from Pompton Plains, Wayne, and surrounding communities year round. Participants will learn basic cartooning skills, drawing fun monsters, as well as classic Halloween favorites like Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the Great Pumpkin. Refreshments will be served and we invite your child to wear their Halloween costume (optional).
This workshop is absolutely free and all materials are supplied but we ask that you bring a can of cat or dog food to be donated to ADOPT (Animal Dignity Org. of Pequannock Township).

Creators Workshop grand opening reception Oct. 1st!

The Creators Workshop Art School cordially invites you to join us at a ribbon cutting ceremony at our new location in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. The reception will be Saturday, October 1st, from 2- 7 pm. The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 2 pm and a painting dedication ceremony will follow at 2:15 pm. Owner Mike Malzone has created a 30″ x 40″ painting depicting the historic march of allied french troops down Newark-Pompton-Turnpike en route to Yorktown in 1781. The painting will hang in the Pequannock township town hall after the ceremony.
Light refreshments will be served.

A new season of creativity

We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend. For many of us it was a chance to relax and charge our batteries for a new season of school, and yet so many spent the last week salvaging and recuperating from hurricane Irene. Please know you’re in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you a speedy recovery. If I can be of help in any capacity, please don’t hesitate to call.

We look forward to our 11th fall season, which starts Tuesday, Sept. 6th at new location at: 593 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, NJ. Because our new space is a little smaller than the Wayne school, our class size is limited so we recommend you reserve a space at your earliest convenience.
